Pettigrew, Charles Lockhart

Charles Lockhart Pettigrew (1816-1873) of Tyrrell County, NC, was the son of Ebenezer and Ann Blount Shepard Pettigrew and the older brother of William Pettigrew. Charles received his preparatory education at Bingham's Hillsborough Academy, then entered the University in 1832. A member of the Philanthropic Society, he received his degree in 1836, then returned to Bonarva, one of the family's plantations, which he inherited at his father's death in 1848.
